Rosie Emerson was born in Dorset in 1981. Since graduating in Fine Art from Kingston University In 2004, she has dedicated her work to exploring beauty, power and voyeurism within the subject of the female image.
Emerson’s figures draw reference from archetype’s old and new, from Artemis to the modern day super model. Depicted as solitary performers, the women are objects of desire trapped in an enigmatic image of irresistibility and impotence.
Rosie has exhibited widely in the UK, as well as in Europe, and the US. Her unique collage style has led to her work being published the likes of Vogue, Harpers Bazaar and The Financial Times ‘How to spend it’ Magazine.
She is a British, London-based artist that delivers a clear synergy between art and photography with the most incredulous recipe. It is not enough to simply scrutinise her artwork to gain access into her world. Inside the studio, her product is the sum of her every experience. She paints with an organized tangle of inspiration. She directs photo shoots that are bleeding with the seductive power of the female form. She is spurred by fantasy and travels the world with the optical curiosity of a magpie. To look at Emerson’s skill is one thing, but to get into her mind is quite another. ‘
